Yesterday my Mum and I celebrated a very belated Mothers day.  We drank prosseco and ate a delicious array of cakes, sandwiches and scones all while discussing the many highs and lows of motherhood.  Our venue was Three Church Road, a restaurant and bistro set in Edgbaston.  It is a beautiful listed building with many rooms to dine in all with their own quirky style.  Our dining room was powder pink with a lovely view out onto the terrace.  Apparently this is a real sun trap in the summer.

Our waitress explained that there were a number of different options of drinks that we could choose from.  There was an exciting menu of cocktails, gins and teas but we decided to opt for bubbles.  It seemed only right to celebrate (belated) Mothers day with prosseco.  As we sipped our prosseco and enjoyed our surroundings the afternoon tea arrived.  A real highlight was the popcorn scollop served on an edible spoon with bloody Mary sauce,  although my Mum would say the highlight was the ham sandwich.  According to her nothing beats a good ham sandwich!  Once we had finished, warm scones, clotted cream and jam arrived.  A delicious end to a wonderful time spent together with my Mum.
