Where?  Drayton Manor Dr, Fazeley, Mile Oak, Tamworth B78 3TW

How far from Brum? 25mins (starting from Central Birmingham, Bull Ring )

I have to admit we have never been to Drayton Manor before, a fact which a lot of our Family Fun in Brum followers were surprised by.  I've never been particularly interested in theme parks and assumed that my boys were too young.  So when we were invited to experience Drayton's Magical Christmas I was very intrigued to see what all the fuss was about!

As we walked through the gates of Drayton Manor we were greeted by an enormous, sparkly Christmas tree and Christmas music playing throughout the park.  This was my first surprise of the day!  I have to admit that when we were invited to come and experience a magical Christmas I was a bit skeptical.  I couldn't visualise how a theme park would make me feel Christmasy but as I looked around at the decorations and listened to the music some of the magic was beginning to rub off on me.  This Christmasy feeling grew when we stumbled across a live balcony show with the Fat Controller and other friends.  As we enjoyed the show, singing and dancing along with the Fat Controller magical snow began to fall.  My boys couldn't believe their eyes and nor could we!

My second surprise of the day was how much there was to do.  There's a 4d cinema which was showing Ice Age a Mommoth Christmas.  An extensive zoo with a wonderful array of animals.  Our favourite was the reptile house with a terrifying anaconda!  There was also a Thomas the Tank engine train and track which took you from Thomas Land to the zoo.  A Dino trail which contained some pretty scary looking dinosaurs and then of course there was Thomas Land.  With all this on offer we soon realised that we wouldn't be able to fit everything in, in one day!

The final surprise of the day was how much we all enjoyed Thomas Land.  I know it sounds a bit cheesy but the look of sheer joy on my children's faces as they got to choose the rides they wanted to go on melted my heart!  We spent literally hours going from one ride to the next.  There was a tour with Winston, an out of control Bertie the bus, Toby's Tram Express and so much more.  No queue was very long which meant we could go on our favourite rides multiple times.  The boys decided their number one ride was with Jeremy the Jet Plane.  They liked it because you were the pilot and you could control with a button whether you went up really high or down low.

What Family fun in Brum thought of Drayton Manor:

We had a wonderfully festive day full of sparkly lights, Christmas tunes, exciting rides and magical snow.  What more could you ask for?!  A highly recommended day out.
