Visiting a rugby match might not be at the top of a families list when planning some family fun. However, after watching Wasps play Toulouse at the Ricoh arena I can really recommend it as a great family excursion. 

 

I was delighted to find a very welcoming and respectful atmosphere when we arrived at the ground, and this relaxed and inclusive tone remained throughout the match. I was there with a friend of the family who brought along his seven and nine year old sons and they both loved every second. Compared to a Premier league football match it was very affordable with regular deals being offered to families and children. I presumed we would hear some bad language at the game but I was really surprised that I barely heard a word I wouldn't like my children to hear. When the game got going the atmosphere bubbled up and we found ourselves cheering on the local team with both boys enjoying the Wasps chant 'Oggy, Oggy, Oggy!... Oy, Oy, Oy!

When the match finished we walked to the car, which we parked quite easily within ten minutes of the ground. Again this was an atmospheric but importantly a safe end to a fantastic family outing. We will definitely be visiting again and would urge you to sample a bit of what Wasps RFU has to offer. Definitely family fun near Brum.
