Where? Swan's Nest Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 7LS

How far from Brum?  49mins (from Grand Central Birmingham)

Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm is the largest tropical butterfly paradise in the UK.  It is filled with hundreds of the world’s most beautiful butterflies where they are able to fly freely among the tropical plants, waterfalls and fish filled pools. The farm is ideally siutated right in the centre of Stratford with the River Avon in touching distance, cafes, bars, restaurants and shops all close by.

As we walked though the doors into the butterfly farm it felt like we had stepped into a different country.  The air felt humid and there was a lazy looking iguana lounging in a tree.  My boys began to excitedly check off the butterflies they could spot on the identification sheets.  They were soon struggling to keep up as there was just so many of them of all different varieties.  As we moved around the farm we realised that there was lots more to the farm than just a room full of butterflies.  We came across the Discovery Zone.  This was an area dedicated to the life cycle of a butterfly.  We saw lots of amazing  cocoons and caterpillars.  There was also a mini beast handling session happening and Easter activities.  As we continued our way around we came to a mini beast metropolis which houses one of the largest collections of insects in the UK.  A big favorite with my boys were the tarantulas.  We all decided we were feeling rather warm so we headed outside to a lovely wildflower garden where there were picnic tables perfect for our lunch.

What Family fun in Brum thought:

We had a lovely day at Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm and would definitely recommend it.  Both my boys took their cameras and they loved wandering around taking pictures of their favourite butterflies.

When you purchase your ticket it entitles you to come back throughout the day.  This is a great idea as the centre of Stratford is so close  you can explore the centre and then return for another butterfly fix!
