First Steps Swan Lake performed by Birmingham Royal Ballet

The Birmingham Royal Ballet have done it again! Over the past five years we have been lucky enough to see a few performances ranging from Beauty and the Beast to the Nutcracker. This years offering of Swan Lake provides children an accessible and engaging opportunity to see world class dancers perform, explain and even teach the audience about art of story telling through ballet.

The First Steps performance balances audience participation, be ready to show your creative side, with scenes from the world famous ballet. During the show it is difficult to not be impressed by the grandeur of the set and expertise of the dancers. The full orchestra and cast took part and was pitched well for young children, but I am sure children of all ages would enjoy it. As a ballet novice I learned quite a lot including what some of the dance movements mean . On this occasion I took my four year old son who was captivated from start to finish (The show lasted one hour).

As always the Royal Ballet Company, in partnership with the Hippodrome, have produced a fantastic show that not only provides entertainment for the whole family, but also inspires though world class performances. Family Fun in Brum strongly suggest making your first steps into the world of ballet.
