Family Fun During Lockdown

With the new four-week lockdown in England coming into place today there's a new normal to get use to once again.  Part of the lockdown guidance allows for visits to public outdoor spaces such as parks, playgrounds, and public gardens.  Below is a guide to what has remained open within the West Midlands.  When visiting please remember to adhere to the government lockdown guidance.

National Memorial Arboretum 

Croxall Rd, Burton-on-Trent DE13 7AR

The National Memorial Arboretum remains open to pre booked visitors.  Toilets will remain available along with a limited range of take-away food and drink. There will be no land train service.  Play areas will continue to be accessible, along with the Stick Man Trail.  For more information follow the link.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Westbourne Rd, Birmingham B15 3TR

Birmingham Botanical Gardens will be operating as a garden only – no glasshouses will be accessible in the month-long period – on reduced hours of 10am-3.30pm. Last entrance will be 3pm and you must book your visitor slot in advance online.

Winterbourne Gardens

Westbourne Rd, Birmingham B15 3TR

Winterbourne gardens can remain open to the public, according to the latest government guidelines, however the house, tearoom and shop will have to close from 5th November until further notice.  For more information follow the link.

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens

Chester Road,Castle Bromwich, Birmingham B36 9BT

New hours for Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens will be Wednesday through to Sunday 10:30am - 3:30pm (initial trial for two weeks starting today). Takeaway refreshments will be available and toilets will remain open.

Autumn Leaves

National Trust

Following the government announcement of a four-week lockdown in England, The National Trust are pleased to keep the outdoor spaces they care for open, including countryside sites and car parks, as well as, gardens and parklands. 

You can still enjoy takeaway food and drink from the cafés and food outlets, and outdoor play areas will stay open in line with government guidance.  The following sites are within the West Midlands and worth a visit:

Packwood House, Baddesley Clinton and Wightwick Manor

Trentham Gardens

Trentham Gardens is open to visitors as usual. Trentham Garden Centre and ‘essential shops’ have the option to open in the shopping village.  For more information please follow the link.

Bodenham Arboretum
Wolverley, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, DY11 5TB

In line with Government guidelines, Bodenham Arboretum will be remain open. However, the Visitor Centre / Restaurant will be closed.

A take-away food service will be in place from Thurs 5 Nov – drinks (hot & cold).  Toilets will also remain open.  Opening Times: 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week.  For more information follow the link.
